After we have collected soil samples from your site, they are sent to a UKAS accredited laboratory and analysed for the presence of asbestos.

Initial screening is conducted initially by eye and then by binocular microscopy. Identification of asbestos types is then conducted using polarised light microscopes.
If asbestos is found in a sample, it’s then quantified. First, asbestos-containing materials are weighed to measure contamination as a percentage of the sample weight. Then the sample is subjected to sedimentation, which is analysed by phase contrast microscopy.
