As my diary rapidly fills up with meetings in 2026, I’m almost startled at how quickly 2025 has passed. Meetings, presentations, and strategic planning have been frequent fixtures in my schedule during the past year, paving the way for new opportunities, driving change and helping to contribute to a wider conversation.

While it can be tempting to plough on with the next project – even late in the year – I’m conscious that it’s important to pause and take stock, especially after a year of growth and change.

From helping to drive change in industry via a community-interest company, to being acquired by Obsequio Group, 2025 has spurred growth for Environtec in a variety of ways. We’ve hired new talent, developed promotion opportunities and been part of something bigger via Obsequio Group’s year-long charity fundraiser. There’s plenty to reflect on and be proud of. Here are just a few notable moments and achievements from 2025:

January: 1 millionth job logged on TEAMS

We started using The Electronic Asbestos Management System (TEAMS) in 2010, and have managed to log 1 million compliance jobs for our customers over 15 years. TEAMS is particularly useful for our customers and surveyors, keeping all-important data in one place. Here’s to reaching 2 million!

    March: Obsequio Group acquires Environtec

This was, of course, our biggest news of the year. We were delighted to join the Obsequio Group back in March, and for our UKAS-accredited asbestos services to sit alongside 12 other compliance companies, all driving the highest standards of safety and compliance through technology-focused services. Our customers now have access to CPD events delivered through Obsequio in 2026 and beyond, and we’ve been able to provide additional compliance services to a range of Obsequio Group customers. It’s been invaluable to gain further input from the Group for some of our central teams (HR, Marketing, Customer Service) and to continue with our recruitment drive into 2026. Thank you to Obsequio Group CEO, Simon Abley, and Chairman, Simon Cashmore, for welcoming us to the Group, and for the opportunities that lie ahead.

April: Environtec contributes to a national asbestos strategy proposal delivered to Parliament

As part of the community-interest company (CIC) Asbestos Information, Environtec stood alongside industry counterparts during Global Asbestos Awareness Week to deliver a proposal for a national asbestos strategy. With first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing the industry concerning transparency, awareness and safety, we believe it’s imperative that government is armed with recommendations that can better protect the UK from asbestos. A big thank you to all who were involved with this proposal.

May: Your opinion on the concept of a national asbestos database
The majority of people we polled on LinkedIn in May believed that a national database could improve safety and asbestos awareness for everyone. There is no easy answer to the complex challenge that asbestos presents. But there is a consensus that a national strategy is necessary to effect change and make spaces safer.

June: Over £1000 raised for Youth4Youth children’s charity
Staff up and down the country laced up their running (or walking) shoes in June to raise an outstanding £1,111 for children’s peer-support charity, Youth4Youth. This initiative was part of the Obsequio group-wide fundraising effort that we took part in during 2025, and everyone brought their A-game! 174 miles were covered on the longest (and hottest) day, while others sold sweet, baked goods to family and friends at the Youth4Youth cake sale. Well done everyone!

September: New promotion at Environtec Wales

Contracts Manager, James Hollingworth, was promoted to Regional Operations Manager in September, and is now responsible for overseeing work in Wales and the South West. James has over 13 years’ experience working in asbestos compliance and when this opportunity came up, the team and I knew James would be a great fit for the role. Congratulations James!

September/October: New management hires at Head Office

As Environtec grows, we believe that investing in our people will bring further innovation and advanced ways of working that improve customer experience. We were delighted to welcome new Regional Operations Manager, Kevin Sowdon to our Head Office in September, where he’ll be focused on growth and innovation for the region. We also welcomed  Paul Gansbuehler to Head Office where he’s managing our Finance team and contributing to wider strategic change within the business. Welcome Kevin and Paul!

    October: Environtec turns 31

Having celebrated our milestone birthday last year, this year we reflected on legislation that’s been passed throughout the decades to better protect UK employees and the general public. We pledge to continue raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos, and to deliver our accredited services that provide valuable assurance that your space or building is safe and compliant.

November: Joining the conversation at Obsequio Group events

I was invited to be a panelist at Obsequio’s most recent bi-annual conference that explored the use of technology in safety and compliance. I talked about the methods of data collation, (including regional heat maps) that were used as part of Asbestos Information CIC’s research, and the subsequent recommendation for a national asbestos register. This event was a great opportunity to talk to clients and understand how they’re adopting tech and data-driven insights to strengthen their compliance. Thank you for the invitation, Obsequio Group!

Lastly, I’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Environtec. Our teams go above and beyond to deliver the compliance services that our customers have come to rely on, and this year was no exception. From internal training to strengthening client relationships through enhanced service delivery, Environtec employees have consistently embodied our 5 core values throughout 2025. Our growth wouldn’t be possible without their hard work, dedication, and proactivity. I’m proud of the momentum we’ve achieved this year and I’m looking forward to the growth and opportunities that lie ahead.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Environtec!
