UKATA Surveying & Sampling Refresher

Asbestos refresher training for those undertaking asbestos surveying and sampling in buildings and surrounding areas, as defined within the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012), Asbestos: The Survey Guide (HSG264) and Asbestos – The Analysts’ Guide (HSG248 Second Edition). To refresh delegates on the theoretical and practical skills required to undertake asbestos surveys within buildings and any other premises as defined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

WHO IS IT FOR?

This refresher training can be given to employees whose work involves asbestos surveying and sampling. All delegates sitting this course must have previously been trained to undertake asbestos surveying and sampling. The minimum qualifications to attend this training will need to be verified by Environtec and will include BOHS P402, RSPH Level 3 Award and holders of the Certificate of Competence (Asbestos) (CoCA) or CCP or equivalent course as defined by UKAS document RG8.

COURSE CONTENT

The course has been developed to refresh the surveyors on general surveying and sampling practices following current legislation and guidance. This will involve:

  • Asbestos types and uses, health effects, legislation including management regs
  • Asbestos management and asbestos surveying inc. survey reporting, sample risk assessments, recommendations;
  • Asbestos sampling within premises including sampling strategies;
  • Licensed works vs Non-Licensed works and providing recommendations where work is required

Also there will be a practical element to include:

  • Donning PPE & RPE (including decontamination)
  • Sampling of materials
  • Completing material & priority assessments and confirm recommendations (removal / management)

The training delivered will be based on a Training Needs Analysis which each delegate will complete before the commencement of the course. As such Environtec can offer bespoke or tailored training for the remainder of any training session, but the core content will always be included.

ASSESSMENT

Delegates are required to complete an exam consisting of 60 multi-choice questions. Delegates will be required to achieve a score of at least 48 out of 60 (80%). The exam period will be for  80 minutes.

QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATES

All delegates who successfully complete this course are issued a UKATA Certificate of Competence and Achievement which can be verified on the UKATA website and is valid for 12 months.
