UKATA Asbestos Awareness Refresher

People working with asbestos containing materials should refresh their original training annually.

WHO IS IT FOR?

UKATA Asbestos awareness refresher training is required for anyone who may be exposed to asbestos containing materials during their working activities and those that supervise their work activities and should be refreshed annually following the original training. 

COURSE CONTENT

UKATA Asbestos Awareness refresher course content is governed by Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and includes the following elements:

• The properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke
• The types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and ACMs in buildings and plant
• The general procedures to be followed to deal with an emergency, for example an uncontrolled release of asbestos dust into the workplace; and
• How to avoid the risks from asbestos, for example for building work, no employee should carry out work which disturbs the fabric of a building unless the employer has confirmed that ACMs are not present.

The content of this course can be tailored to customer’s specific requirements.

ASSESSMENT

Delegates are required to complete a short multiple choice exercise to demonstrate an understanding of the course subjects.

QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATES

All delegates who successfully complete this course are issued a Certificate of Attendance and a “credit card” sized photographic ID card both of which can be verified on the UKATA website and are valid for 12 months.
