BOHS P400 – Asbestos Foundation Module

This course is designed as a progression route to the asbestos proficiency qualifications for surveyors and analysts. It gives candidates an introductory level of knowledge on the health risks of asbestos fibres, and how to manage asbestos-containing materials in their work. The course is in line with the Foundation Material in the HSE’s Appendix 9: Recommended core competences to be achieved via on-and off-the-job development in HSG248 Asbestos: The Analysts’ Guide ( 2nd edition, July 2021). The appendix recommends underpinning competences for all subsequent development of the surveyor /analyst.

If you are training to become an asbestos surveyor or analyst, this course is for you.

The level of a course or qualification indicates the relative complexity and depth of knowledge and skills required to complete the course or qualification. This is a Level 3 qualification in the BOHS qualifications framework.

The P400 course will require at least 8 hours of study time, of which at least 6 hours will be taught (teaching and practical assessments) and 2 hours will be independent (in your own time). In addition there will be a 30 minute examination.
