Course Information
Who is it for?
Regulation 3 of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 requires employers to provide training, equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first-aid to be rendered to his employees. This 1 day course is suitable for all candidates who have little or no first aid experience.
Course Content
The course complies with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice L74 guidelines for the qualification of workplace First Aiders.
- Aims and principles of first aid
- What to do in an emergency
- Basic Life Support (CPR)
- Management of the unconscious casualty
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
- Choking and asphyxia
- Assessment and treatment of burns
- Assessment and treatment of miscellaneous medical conditions
- Record keeping
Assessment
Delegates are observed throughout the course by the trainer demonstrating practical skills and answering oral questions.
Qualification and Certificates
On successful completion of the course and final assessment, the delegate will receive the HSE Approved, nationally recognised, First Aid at Work Certificate. This certificate is valid for three years.
