Course Information
Who is it for?
The BSC Level 1 Award in Health and Safety at Work aims to formalise health and safety induction training in the form of a nationally-recognised qualification.
The Award is based on the national occupational standards for health and safety and is accredited by the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator, Ofqual, at Level 1 in the Qualifications and Credits Framework.
Course Content
The course designed by BSC is based on the following criteria:
1. Understand the importance of health, safety and welfare standards in the workplace
2. Know how hazards and risks are controlled in the workplace
3. Be aware of the main causes and effects of poor health and safety at work
4. Understand how health and safety information is communicated in the workplace
Assessment
There is a 60 minute 40-question multiple-choice examination paper with a pass mark of 26 out of 40. All marking is done by the British Safety Council. Results and certificates are issued within 5 working days.
Qualification and Certificates
On successfully completing the course and passing the exam a certificate will be issued by the British Safety Council.
