Course Information
Who is it for?
This course is designed to enhance candidate’s knowledge of occupational hygiene practice in relation to fibrous dusts. The module concentrates on asbestos but also covers other fibres which are increasingly finding uses in industry e.g. MMMF, ARAMIDS. This course will benefit those working in asbestos consultancy as well as mainstream occupational hygiene, giving an understanding of the health risks associated with asbestos and other fibres as well as the means of evaluation & control.
Course Content
The course contains a wide range of topics including Asbestos and Other Fibres, Health Hazards and Exposure Limits, Legislation, Asbestos in Buildings and Surveys, Asbestos Removal and Clearance Testing, Air Sampling, Analysis of Bulk Samples, Fibre Counting. The course includes a full range of PowerPoint presentations, accompanying notes and additional course materials. Assessment
This course contains a short answer questions examination under the supervision of a BOHS invigilator and a practical assessment undertaken by an independent assessor.
Qualification and Certificates
Successful completion of the course will give delegates the practical knowledge and skills to be able to manage a wide range of asbestos consultancy activities. A formal certificate is issued to successful candidates directly by BOHS.
