Course Information
Who is it for?
The course is designed for anyone wishing to inspect premises to locate and identify asbestos containing materials and to safely take representative samples of suspect materials for analysis. The course is also useful for those that supervise or commission asbestos surveys and who wish to have a better understanding of the nature and skills required for asbestos surveying and sampling.
Course Content
Candidates will receive training in the nature of asbestos and its associated health effects and a detailed review of the various products that contain asbestos. The course will cover the theory and practical aspects of planning and undertaking asbestos surveys in buildings of various types, the safe and representative sampling of all types of asbestos materials. Delegates will be trained to produce reports in compliance with HSG 264 incorporating material risk assessments and make appropriate remedial recommendations to their clients. The course includes a full range of PowerPoint presentations, accompanying notes and additional course materials. Assessment
This course contains a short answer questions examination under the supervision of a BOHS invigilator and a practical assessment undertaken by an independent assessor. In addition, delegates will be required to complete 2 asbestos survey reports within 6 months of their successful completion of the exam and practical assessment and present these to BOHS for marking.
Qualification and Certificates
Successful completion of the course will give delegates the practical knowledge and skills to be able to carry out building surveys and asbestos bulk sampling in accordance with HSG264. A formal certificate is issued to successful candidates directly by BOHS.
